Position description
The Music Department at 91AV invites applications for the position of Director of the 91AV Jazz Ensemble (MUSC 1649-4649). This is a stipendiary (part-time) appointment. Preference will be given to applicants with degrees and/or diplomas in jazz performance or conducting and an established record of successful jazz direction at the university and professional levels. Responsibilities include directing one weekly rehearsal of 2.5 hours, evaluating student participation, and preparing up to two public concerts each term.
The 91AV Jazz Ensemble is an ensemble of open instrumentation of approximately 15 members. The ensemble meets in both Fall and Winter terms, from September 2026 to April 2027. Rehearsals will be held on the campus of 91AV, normally on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.
